Monthly or Weekly?

There are two types of music magazine, monthly and weekly..

-Q being monthly
-NME being weekly
- MOJO being monthly

Im going to explore the positives and negatives of why a publisher would make their magazine monthly or weekly and more importantly for my project, whether ill make it monthly or weekly.

The benefits of a weekly magazine are that it obviously stays in date longer , and gives more regular and up to date news however it obviously has its drawbacks as its arguably not cost effective and the news may be of less importance and therefore irrelevant and not neccesscary. Obviously the popular NME magazine manages to attract regular readers by making the 'live' situation available to its readership with up to date news on upcoming gigs or reviews.

Q magazine and MOJO, monthly mags also have a huge readership and give readers news monthly on everything music yet is it out of date? Or is it more of a summary? I think that monthly magazines have a huge benefit of being more viable to the consumer as well, as cramming all the recent and future potential news into one making, monthly magazines all have larger in depth studies into topics rather than a brief look at topics in magazines such as NME

Another factor which must be acknowledged are the advertisers that can advertise either weekly or monthly magazine either enhancing their product at a cost benefiting the financial side of a magazine although. On the other hand the less adverts the less money made to help produce perhaps a better publication. All of these economic factors are just as an equal importance to the magazine as the look and the design.
